Back from hiatus with a 30 day yoga challenge!

It’s been a while since I’ve paid any mind to this blog, as well as exercising in general. But I’m back from hiatus and ready to get back into overall wellness again! I really fell off the exercise wagon after my half marathon in October (winters can be really rough in New England). But I recently attended Wanderfest in March, a female-focused outdoor travel festival, which included movement classes, such as Masala Bhangra, Afrobeat yoga, and dance/twerk classes (you can read all about my experience on my other blog here)! I came home feeling so inspired with both my wanderlust and getting back into a fitness routine again!

And then I got COVID…

While I was out of commission for a week, I knew my symptoms could have been a lot worse. But I had also lost my motivation again to exercise. Six weeks later, after recovering from COVID, going on another trip (and indulging too much that can come with traveling), and warmer weather approaching, I’m more motivated than ever to get back into a healthier lifestyle. And what better way than to kickstart with a personal fitness challenge!

I’ve dedicated the month of May to a month long yoga challenge. My goals are to do yoga every day and to vary up the yoga routines throughout the month. I plan on incorporating both morning routines and evening routines, as well as attend 1-2 “live” yoga sessions (I usually throw on a YouTube video and follow along with the motions).

I’m not going to lie, the first day was a little rough, remembering at 10:30pm that I hadn’t done any yoga yet for the day! But I immediately rolled out my yoga mat at the foot of my bed and did a 5 minute bedtime stretch routine. Today went a little better with a 10 minute YouTube session after work. But these past two days have been a nice reminder of how helpful a fitness routine can be (especially to help keep you on track).

I’ll be traveling again in a few weeks to go to a wedding in North Carolina. As a way to keep me accountable for doing yoga on the road, I just ordered my first, foldable travel yoga mat! I also booked a live virtual yoga session for next week and goat yoga at a farm in Maine at the end of the month! I’m really looking forward to seeing where my yoga adventures take me this month and I can’t wait to share my experiences along the way!

I'm a small town girl who grew up in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. I love writing, rock music, and, well, traveling of course! I'm an aspiring travel blogger who started traveling internationally later in life at 21. So far, I've been to 17 countries and 6 out of 7 continents, with my goal to explore Antarctica in 2023! When I'm not traveling abroad, I enjoy exploring locally throughout New England, going to concerts, trying new vegetarian cuisine, and spending time with my lovely husband, our precious beagle mix Sophie, and our beloved cats, Moose and Heidi.
